Tiffany Haidon, RM, Founding Partner of Uxbridge Community MidwivesTiffany Haidon, RM - Tiffany is the founding partner of Uxbridge Community Midwives. After moving to the Uxbridge area in 2006 and recognizing a need for midwifery services, she submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Health to secure practice funding. The proposal was accepted and UCM opened November 01, 2008.  She is thrilled to see the practice grow to 3 midwives.

Tiffany graduated from Ryerson University with an Honours Bachelor in Health Sciences (Midwifery) in 2002.  She practiced at the Midwives Collective of Toronto (a busy downtown Toronto practice) from 2002-2007 before moving to Uxbridge.

Prior to midwifery, Tiffany was an Obstetrical Nurse at Mount Sinai Hospital from 1994-2002.

Tiffany was elected as a council member of the College of Midwives of Ontario in 2010 for a 3-year term.  She also participates in committee meetings for the expansion of Markham-Stouffville Hospital. Tiffany has been elected to the Provincial Council for Maternal and Child Health- Prenatal Screening Subcommittee for a 3-year term; a commitment to improve the lives of Women and Children in Ontario.

Tiffany maintains competency in Neonatal Resuscitation Program, CPR, and Emergency Skills.

She is committed to increasing accessibility to midwifery care in the North Durham/ York Regions.

Janis Dalacker, Midwife, Uxbridge Community MidwivesJanis Dalacker, B.HSc., R.M. - Janis was pleased to join the team at Uxbridge Community Midwives in March 2011. Prior to joining the staff at UCM, Janis was practicing as a full-scope midwife in London, Ontario since 2009, providing care to women in urban and rural settings. She graduated from Ryerson University after earning her Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences in Midwifery. She began her training in 2004 and has enjoyed working with various health care providers within obstetrics, paediatrics and women’s health throughout the greater Toronto and surrounding communities.

Janis' interest in pregnancy and childbirth began as a child with the story of her father born into the hands of a midwife at a "Hebammenschule" or Midwifery school, in southern Germany. She learned about the Ontario Midwifery profession in 1993 during her second pregnancy, and found comfort in the care of Midwives for her last three pregnancies and births.

Janis is a registered midwife with the College of Midwives of Ontario who maintains current certification in CPR, Neonatal Resuscitation and Emergency Skills. Through the principles of informed choice and women-centered care, Janis hopes to provide a positive role within the Midwifery profession and looks forward to serving the women and families in the Uxbridge community.

Jerren Helwig, Uxbridge Community Midwives

My name is Jerren Helwig and I am happy to be working with the Uxbridge Midwives since March 2011.  Before I started here, I completed the International Pre Registration Program from Ryerson University and completed a three- month clerkship with Markham Stouffville Midwives, a full scope practice.

Prior to moving to Canada in 2009, I practiced in the United States in the Midwest States as a Certified Professional Midwife attending homebirths since 2000.  My specialty was waterbirths.  I enjoyed being a community midwife and I look forward to being involved with this community as well.  I feel privileged to be able to provide care in both hospital and home settings.  Markham Stouffville Hospital has a fantastic team of professionals that allow for a great birth experience.  Providing full scope privileges truly allows women the right to choose what is best for them.

I am current with my registration with the College of Midwives of Ontario and with all required certifications: CPR, NRP and Emergency Skills.  I follow the guidelines established by the College of Midwives and attend Conferences and workshops to keep current with the latest research and events related to the profession of midwifery.  I look forward to serving you and your family on your journey through pregnancy and beyond.
